Tahir Abbas is Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Fatih University, Istanbul in Turkey. Born in Birmingham, England (1970), he is author, editor and co-editor of ten books, and author and co-author of over 75 articles in specialist journals and collections. His most recent book is Islamic Radicalism and Multicultural Politics (Routledge, 2011). The subjects of his current research and book projects are comparative global ‘Islamisms’, youth resistance, civil society, transition from education to employment among young Muslim women and the ‘Kurdish issue’.
